In short: Preparation, the procedure itself, recovery and red flags, explained for first-time patients.

Before the day

Bring your MRI or X-ray if you have one, a list of your medicines (especially blood thinners) and someone to drive you home if possible. Eat lightly. Tell the team if you are pregnant, diabetic or allergic to contrast or iodine.

On the table

You lie face down. The skin is cleaned and numbed. The doctor uses the C-Arm X-ray to guide a fine needle and injects a little contrast to confirm the target, then the medication. Most patients feel pressure and sometimes a brief familiar ache.

Afterwards

You rest 15–30 minutes. Mild soreness or temporary numbness can occur. Avoid bathing the site for 24 hours and avoid strenuous exercise that day. Diabetics may see a temporary rise in blood sugar if a steroid is used.
