Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Treatment in Uijeongbu, Korea
In short: Compression of the median nerve at the wrist causing numbness and tingling in the thumb, index and middle fingers, often worse at night.
What is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?
The median nerve passes through a narrow tunnel at the wrist. Swelling or thickening in the tunnel squeezes the nerve, producing numbness and tingling. Because a pinched nerve in the neck can cause similar symptoms, nerve conduction testing is important.
Common symptoms
- Numbness in thumb, index and middle fingers
- Night tingling that wakes you
- Clumsiness and dropping things
- Thumb weakness
What causes it?
- Repetitive wrist use
- Pregnancy
- Diabetes and thyroid conditions
How it is diagnosed at Yonsei Leaders
Examination and nerve conduction study/EMG, with ultrasound of the nerve.
Non-surgical treatment options
- Nerve Conduction Study and EMG: Electrical tests (TruTrace EMG) that measure how well nerves and muscles work, to diagnose pinched nerves, carpal tunnel syndrome and neuropathy.
- Ultrasound-Guided Injection: Real-time ultrasound (E-CUBE 8 DIA) lets the doctor see tendons, ligaments, bursae and nerves while injecting, for accurate soft-tissue and joint…
- C-Arm Guided Spinal Injection: A spinal injection delivered under live X-ray (C-Arm) guidance so medication reaches the exact inflamed nerve or joint, with no incision and no…
- Work Injury: Care for back, neck and joint injuries sustained at work, with documentation for Korea Workers' Compensation (KCOMWEL) claims.
Your plan is tailored after examination; many patients combine a targeted procedure with manual therapy and exercise for longer-lasting results.
