Text Neck Treatment in Uijeongbu, Korea
In short: Neck, shoulder and upper-back pain from spending long hours with the head pushed forward over phones and laptops.
What is Text Neck?
For every few centimetres the head moves forward, the load on the neck muscles increases dramatically. Over time this 'turtle neck' posture overloads the upper trapezius and neck extensors, stiffens the upper back and can accelerate disc wear. It is extremely common in office workers, students and drivers.
Common symptoms
- Neck and shoulder tightness
- Headaches at the back of the head
- Rounded shoulders and upper-back ache
- Fatigue when sitting
- Jaw tension
What causes it?
- Smartphone and laptop use
- Poor workstation setup
- Weak deep neck flexors and upper-back muscles
- Stress and shallow breathing
How it is diagnosed at Yonsei Leaders
Posture assessment and X-ray show the forward head angle and loss of the normal neck curve; the doctor also checks for disc or nerve involvement.
Non-surgical treatment options
- Manual Therapy: One-to-one hands-on treatment by a trained therapist to release tight muscles, mobilise stiff joints and correct posture and alignment.
- Trigger Point Injection: Small injections into tight, tender knots in muscle that refer pain elsewhere, used for myofascial neck, shoulder and back pain and tension headaches.
- Stretch and Spray Myofascial Release: A vapo-coolant spray combined with targeted stretching to release tight muscles and fascia and break the spasm–pain cycle.
- Rehabilitation and Corrective Exercise: Guided strengthening, stabilisation and mobility exercise to rebuild support around the spine and joints and prevent pain from returning.
- Vibration Therapy: Targeted vibration energy that loosens knotted muscle and soft tissue to improve pain and movement.
Your plan is tailored after examination; many patients combine a targeted procedure with manual therapy and exercise for longer-lasting results.
Self-care tips
- Chin tucks several times a day
- Screen at eye level
- Open the chest with doorway stretches

Frequently asked questions
Can text neck be reversed?
Posture and muscle balance can be greatly improved with manual therapy and corrective exercise, and pain usually settles as the muscles adapt.
Is text neck dangerous?
